Meet Tom!
Recently, we introduced you to Sean, Romero Athletics' first full-time intern. Tom joined us shortly thereafter, and since he's come on board has impressed us with his enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
You may all not have the pleasure of knowing Tom as well as us, so we spent 5 minutes finding out what makes him tick and how he's finding his internship:
What do you like doing outside of training, Tom?
When I’m not at school or training. I enjoy adventure sports, surfing and catching up on some beauty sleep!
What brings you to Romero Athletics?
After moving to Canberra early last year to pursue my rugby career, I was looking to increase my strength, size and longevity. That’s when I was referred to Alan by a family member. Recently I heard he was offering an intern position and I thought was the best way I could increase my knowledge in regards to training and help others achieve their training goals.
Have you always enjoyed sport and training?
As a child I played every sport under the sun, whatever I could enrol in I participated in. As I grew older I found rugby and after the first game I was hooked. Now I’m training for rugby most days of the week and when I have some free time I like to surf and ride motocross.
What are your favourite exercises in the gym?
Deadlift and gymnastic movements
Which athletes do you admire?
David Pocock and Mick Fanning
Hit us with your goals – in training and in life.
My training goals revolve around deadlifting 200kg and increasing my speed. In life I want to give children the opportunities and knowledge that I wish I had when I was younger.
What have you learned so far from interning at Romero Athletics?
Even though you have been breathing your whole life, you are most likely doing it wrong!
